Father & Daughter

" Lately I've been noticing
I say the same things he used to say
And I even find myself acting the very same way
I tap my fingers on the table
To the rhythm in my soul
And I jingle the car keys
When I'm ready to go
When I look in the mirror
He's right there in my eyes
Starin' back at me and I realize
...

The older I get
The more I can see
How much he loved my mother and my brother and me
And he did the best that he could
And I only hope when I have my own family
That everyday I see
A little more of my father in me... "

I've been thinking about my dad alot lately. His health has been up & down and while I won't go into details, I'll just say the time I spend with him is very dear to me from here on, though I'd like to think I've never taken him for granted to begin with. He's always the one I use to go to when I needed advice and consoling when others thought I was weird and strange in school, kinda like him :)

The reason I chose Dobermans for this simple piece is because my old man use to raise & breed them in his younger days. He tells me that he raised them so big that they could stand straight up on their hind legs and stare him in the face, and my dad's a whopping 6'5".

And while most of you know my character is a lioness, well, I'm a chip off of the old block when it comes to him and I'm very proud today to say I'm his daughter, so I thought a small green Dobie would be appropriate.

I know it's not the greatest work of art I've made but this simple little computer doodle means the world to me as far as what this represents to me personally. Song lyrics are by Keith Urban's "Song for Dad" and I thought it would be fitting for the description.

I love you so much, Dad, and just like you were always there for me in my best & worst of times, I'll be here for you in these rough times. You're one of the bravest people I know and I know you'll continue to be that way no matter what this life throws at you. Thanks for always being there for me, understanding my awkward quirks, and teaching me to never back down from my beliefs, to stand tall, & keep my head held high no matter what happens in life. There will always be someone to catch you and help you up when you stumble...

"He's in my eyes
My heart, my soul
My hands, my pride

And when I feel alone
And I think I can't go on
I hear him sayin' "Son you'll be alright
Everything's gonna be alright"
Yes it is... "

MS-Paint Doodles

I've been doodling around on the MSPaint program (you know, that lil paint-brush or paint-palette program that comes with all computers?) for fun lately since I hardly ever use digital media and figured it would keep myself entertained during slow work days. So please don't critique; these are just doodles from being bored, not meant to be real works of art, here. XD lol!
Just a random fiery nightmare horse. Fun fun.

Hey, did ya'll know I REALLLLLLY LOVE rainbows? :P And starry stuffs...

Angry Chao is angry! RAWWWWRRRRRR!!!!

YAY more rainbows! :D Color the world! It needs to be more colorful! :3

Bad day.....

Just a cute cartoon-esque chef-dragon whipping up something tasty :)

Oh noes, don't drop that big tray, lil server-dragon!!! D: That hot soup is gonna hurrrrrt when it spills!!!

Someone better call this dragon an extra large taxi to get back to his home-cave. He druuuuuuunk~! (hic)

Sometimes I wonder if this is how people view Alice when they first meet her when she starts barking and snarling at strangers, but I promise she won't bite!...much! XD lol! I know the anatomy is kinda messed up but eh, it's MS-Paint, what do you expect of me? :P

Just wanted to doodle a sun & moon concept... not really sure where I was going with this! XD

Daria, Pokemanz, and Other Stuff!

I've been watching one of my favorite shows from my earlier childhood known as Daria. If you're a true 90's kid, you know which show I'm talking about it and can't deny its awesomeness :)

So I tried my hand at Chao in a Daria-esque logo/sign thing. I'm actually pretty darn pleased with it. Not to mention I'm proud for kicking myself in the butt to color something for once. I added my rainbow ear stud for a flare of color :3

I really don't know why but I just had the urge to anthro-morphized a random pokemon and decided an avian-one would be fun, so Mandibuzz was my goal.

Of all things about this piece, I like how bitchy she looks! XD

So Momma Persian & her trainer have finally decided to take her cub to pokemon-day-care to meet other pokemon play mates, However, looks like the young little cub has picked up a few habits from his Daddy Absol on how to greet girl pokemon such as this pretty Vulpix, who is now wet with slobber... and it seems like a Momma Nintetales is not amused with the Persian's parenting skills XD

Overall, this sketch was mainly for fun, but I seriously enjoyed doing the expression on the Vulpix's face! I couldn't stop laughing to myself X3 IF anyone would like to volunteer to color this, I would seriously love to see the result :)

Eric and I have been talking lately and we came to the conclusion his fursona needed a bit of a makeover since I made a ring-tailed lemur secondary fursona that I never used...

So we figured to just tweak his main fursona a little bit with ring tail with leopard flare while also changing his ears to a solid black like ring-tailed lemurs have. No big changes, but enough to be significant =)

I've been watching a lot of Regular Show so I decided to try my hand at the style a little bit. Since I've never seen feline-sonas on the show, I kinda winged it as far as how they'd possibly look =/ Meh, kinda so-so about it but it was still a nice doodle to sketch up for a laugh XD

Today's my 23rd Birthday!!

Another year has gone by and I'm now 23 years old. It feels kinda strange, considering I'm now the same age Eric was when we first started dating X3; Lordy...

I don't know why, but I always can't help but chuckle to myself every time the thought reoccurs to me that I'm turning 23 and it seems here lately that I see the number 23 every where I go, but I suppose this is also due to the fact I watched The Number 23 recently. I loooove Jim Carrey and I thought The Number 23 was pretty awesome and trippy.

The movie's plot aside, it really is amazing that a lot of things in the world can sum up to 23. I know this is only psychology at play and that if you look for something within things around you, your mind will find it. However, considering my 23rd birthday is today and The Number 23 is one of my favorite movies, I decided to do this sketch to remember it by. It's more or less for silly reasons and I promise I'm not obsessed with the number....

I decided that after my 25th birthday, I'm going to adopt my sister's aging-system and just start putting a star after my age. Hers is 25 (three stars) and the funny thing is that she's told me she's almost forgotten how old she really is from using that system quite religiously :P

Here's some more random facts about the number 23:

1.) The first morse code transmission - "What hath God wrought?" - was from the Bible passage Numbers 23:23. In telegraphers code 23 means "break the line".

2.) The tilt of Earth’s axis is roughly 23 degrees.

3.) Humans have 23 vertebra running down the main part of their spines.

4.) The most frequent numbers in the Book of Revelations are 4 (the powerful beasts), 7(seven seals, seven churches, etc.), and 12 (12 apostles, etc.). 4+7+12=23

5.) In the movie Jeepers Creepers the creature gets to feed every 23 years for 23 days.

6.) (My personal favorite odd-ball fact) In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, within the first dungeon, a deku scrub states "The order is...2 3 1. Twenty-three is number one!" as a hint to defeating his brethren deeper in the dungeon.

I'm also willing to bet that if any of you read the stuff in the sketch itself, that you looked down at your keyboard :P

Comics, old & new

This post is all about comics I've done in the past, and some of these go as far as my early years in high school, like, when I was in the 8th grade :P So pardon me if the artwork is not that great of quality.
This comic, though very old it maybe, is true to the point that alot of people, when they first meet my main character, Chao, think she's a guy, when in fact, it's a woman!!!! I designed her based off of my own dress habits & personality and I wanted to give her the androgynous look. She's by no means a girlie girl, and does not enjoy showing her womanliness, and if anything, tries to hide it most of the time under her tomboyish mannerisms & appearance. Here, we see a rather attractive & flirty fox girl coming face to face with Chao, and quickly finding out that the handsome 'gentleman' ordering the bloodmary is not what they appear to be :P

This slightly more recent comic was done while I was having a bad day during 'Aunt Irmas' visit one time ;P Ladies, I think we've all been there, haven't we? Lol!
This comic dates back around January 2006 when I had just gotten out of relationship with someone and one of my dear friends in drama class, Josh, could tell I was having a less-than-sunny day. He was kinda & comforting... in his own unique ways, but he did make me smile and cheer up, which made me produce this comic. Thanks Josh, for being your quirky & always charming self ;)
This was a comic prject that never got off the ground. It was going to be a 'song' comic where the characters, instead of using written up dialougue, were going to 'sing' their thoughts & feelings. The song that was going to be used for Seraphim's voice was the song called Beautiful Love by The Afters while Chao's part was going to be You've Alreay Won Me Over by Alanis Morsette. =/ Sadly, it just never happened.
The hilarious thing about this comic is that this is based off my own childhood and my mom has my 1994 Kindergarten VHS tape to prove it :P Even when I was very little, my parents could tell I was going to be an odd-ball of a child, who instead drew things the teacher asked for, the young student rebelled and drew whatever she darn well felt like, cause that's art, freedom of expression, right?....
Or it was just because I was 5 years old and I wanted to draw a mouse, darn it.

Blue & Green Valentine's Day

So this Valentine's Day, I wanted to do a special piece for my hubby and I since V-Day was the day we began our relationship together. Don't get me wrong, my wedding anniversary is far more important, but 2-14-06 is just as special to us since that was the day we took the first step to begin a connection between us.

I'm sure some of you are wondering why I used blues & greens for this piece instrad of the cliche pinks, reds, & white that Valentine's Day is associated for. Reds & pinks are sexual shades of colors, in my opinion. I associate them with raw passion & sensuality, which isn't a bad thing, but I wanted something more calm & tender. Since blue is Eric's favorite color & mine is green, I figured these two cool colors would go perfectly for this piece to how the calming side of romance, so to speak. =) That feeling when your lover embraces you and you just hold one another, lying there and enjoying the warmth and the simplicity of that moment of togetherness...

I love you, Eric, & Happy Valentine's Day, my love.

P.S.: I know this colored piece (and some of my other recent uploads) look a little wrinkley but the recent sketchbook I bought was a bit lower quality than what I usually buy, so that's my fault =_=; So try to overlook the wrinkled look in my colored pieces, if you would.)

Yay Ponies and Stuff!!!

Sooo...this has been my current view on the weather lately <_< To sum this up: I just don't trust the weather anymore, and anytime it starts feeling nice, I'm instantly suspcious...
Chao (c) Me

I'm slowly trying to convert Eric into a brony and to persuade him, I made him a bad@$$ pony-sona named Night Blazer who races shooting stars late at night in Equestria and though he comes off as shy and a bit of a loner, he's particularly friendly with a spunky green fillie named Sweetie Berry, who's next in this upload's line up ;) I'm still trying to work on the Lauren-Faust style of MLP, so forgive me if this isn't entirely true to the show's style.

This spunky looking pony is Sweetie Berry. I wanted to redo the look of my pony-sona and instead of cuffs for a cutie mark, I wanted to do a strawberry cutie mark. But the thing is, I know I've seen berry cutie marks in the show before, so to give it my personal touch, I had the strawberry dipped in chocolate, cause I loooooooove chocolate & strawberries <3 <3 <3 Nom nom nom nom. (coughs) Ahem, anyways, I'm still trying to work on the Lauren-Faust style of MLP, so forgive me if this doesn't look true to the show's style.

HUUUUGE UPLOAD!

I haven't watched Pink Panther in YEEEEARS and one day, while browsing some Netflix streaming choices, I saw all the Pink Panther cartoons available and I squealed like a giddy 5 year old girl. After watching some long lost memories, I decided to give the Pink Panther style a whirl and thus, was the result. At first, I was just gonna do Pink Panther himself, but I decided I really wanted to try Chao in the style as well, so I put both of them together :) Pink Panther is such a sweet gentleman!

Just wanted to doodle up a simple sketch of my lioness-sona just laying around. I'm not sure if the anatomy is all that correct, but I still like it anyway :)

...Ah, cmon, some of you probably saw this coming, eventually XD

Anyways, I finally watched a couple of eppies of the new MLP series, and I gotta admit. It's cute, it's funny, and I kinda liked it more than I'm willing to admit. Because my sis is such a huge fan of the show, I doodled up her and myself as ponies :) I'm the mean looking one with the cuffs for a cutie mark, and she's the pegasus pony. I'll eventually color this.

This is a moment Taro shares with his mother when they were banished from the kingdom that's rule by his father, a royal dragon. In this world/land, nagas were seen as lowly creatures while dragons are seen as royalty and worshipped like gods. Taro's mother had slept with a king dragon, thus, Taro was born. But because the royal's fling's consequence could never be found out, Taro's mother tried to hide the son from the king for many years, but eventually, word got out, and she and Taro were kicked out of the kingdom, and Taro was denied any place in the royal blood line. Here, she weeps not only because she's homeless, but because she was truly in love with the king and is in denial. Taro tries to comfort her, but she's too blind with regret and ignorance to move on.

I asked hubby today what pokemon he would be, and he told me an Absol :) I knew I would be a cute little Persian. I decided to do something cute and sweet, and overall, I like how this turned out. I particularly enjoyed doing the Absol :D He's got such a unique look to him, that it was a little challenging to get his appearance right, but I eventually came to good result :3

Now for something violent looking!! XD I wanted to do a fierce looking Absol, and placed him over a weak and injured Persian who can no longer battle, thus, the Absol steps up to protect her and rip off any faces who dare to come near his mate.

Just wanted to do a cute sketch of Chao...with pencils and stuff.

I decided to finally sit down and get to coloring Taro since he's my latest new character obsession. When I scanned this, my scanner ate the darker lines amongst his blue scales. you can just barely see it if your screen resolution is slightly darker than usual but eh, oh well. I'm just so proud how pretty he turned out!! ^^ Instead of the typical pink tongue, I gave him a lavender colored tongue, much like his uh...other wet body parts ;) Hehe~

Well, I guess she's prancing more so than dancing XD; Anyways, I decided since my good friend, Rhazzazor, has been there for me through alot of drama-llama stuff that's been going on with me, I decided to show him my appreciation by doodling up a cute chibi version of one of his main characters, Diantha, and color her all nice and pretty :3 Not much to say about it, but I certainly hope Peter enjoys her ^^  Thanks for listening to my crazy rants, Peter!

I wanted to do something sensual yet not sexual with Chao & Cole, and this turned out exactly how I wanted it :) I really didn't want anyone's bits showing, but this is still suggestive. I think I may have made Cole's left arm too long, but oh well =) I'm still very much happy with this piece.

Cole © Eric

I had the urge to one day spiff Chao up in some unique armor/outfit so after tinkering around with some ideas, I got this. I wanted something kinda revealing yet, concealing of her gender since Chao usually prefers to dress androgynously. If anything, she'll sometime lie about her gender to other people. I decided to better conceal her gender identity, to place battle-torn bandages around her chest for a show of strength but to conceal what little cleavage she has since her breasts are kinda small.

As far as color choice of clothing, I guess you can all tell green is my favorite color :P But that wasn't my sole based decision. I decided since Chao spends a lot of her time exploring wilderness, specifically forest and woodland areas, green clothing & armor would be better suiting for camoflauge purposes.

I also decided on a blue sheathed & handled katana to represent her connection to Cole, since Eric's/Cole's favorite color is blue ;) The green pendant is an actual necklace I own in RL and I threw it in there for shits and giggles...plus I looooove necklaces, ALOT.

Hope ya'll like the armor outfit concept as much as I do =) Let me know what ya'll think of it!
